News w/b 7th December

There were no runners last week. This week Hovering Hawk is having another outing on Thursday. She is very weak, but showed good speed on her debut, however she will probably still need the experience.

All the yearlings are broken now and coming along nicely. As we have said before they are a very well mannered bunch and there have been a lot fewer falls for the riders this year, which is testament to how well they are going. Richard Spencer and Chris Glenister who have overseen the breaking process have done a marvellous job. Some of the older horses who have got a little bit too fresh trotting have starting having a couple of canters each week. This helps keep their backs down and makes life a bit easier for the riders!

Following Barry's Lifetime Achievement Award from the Animal Health Trust, he received another one on Monday in the shape of the George Ennor Award for Outstanding Achievement at the Horserace Writers and Photographers Association Awards. It is a testament to how fondly regarded in the racing world Barry is that he was the only person to receive a standing ovation, just as he had been at the Animal Health Trust Awards.

Finally we would like to say many congratulations to Debbie, Barry's long serving secretary, and her partner Richard who had a baby boy this week. We're all looking forward to meeting Benjamin very soon.
