Assistant Kevin Mooney and Makhlab
Kevin was born in Lambourn and after serving his apprenticeship
with Mr Hills he joined Fulke Walwyn, riding his first winner on
Amarind in 1975. His highlights include riding for Prince Charles
and winning the Topham Trophy over the Grand National fences, the
Supreme Novices Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival and the Whitbread
Gold Cup for the Queen Mother aboard Special Cargo. He has been
assistant trainer to Mr Hills since his winning retirement at Taunton
in 1991 and he enjoys working with top quality horses and a good
team of staff.
Although he has ridden good horses like Ten Plus, Gay George, Private
Views, Contradeal, Nomadic Way, Beacon Time and Isle Of Man, his
favourite horse is Special Cargo. He says "Winning the Whitbread
Gold Cup on Special Cargo in 1984 for the Queen Mother is a moment
I will treasure for ever".

Barry's Angels in the office
Debbie Bracewell and Myra Baker
Debbie: "I have worked for Mr Hills since 1993 as his Secretary.
There have been many highlights but the one that sticks in my memory
was when we had a treble at the big York meeting in 1995 with Royal
Applause, Sanmartino and Mubhij. All winning by short margins.
Further Flight was my favourite racehorse because he was very brave
and was with us for many years."
Myra: " I started here in 2000 as Mr Hills' Book Keeper. I have always owned horses but never worked in racing before this. Highlights, apart from the excitement of a big win, include being at the Derby when we had 4 runners in it and our yearly outing to Royal Ascot! I am also privileged enough to be able to ride out occasionally in the summer which gives me a great buzz."

for 9 years. I like working with good horses and I am a lifelong
supporter of Chelsea.
My favourite horse was Royal Applause but I used to really enjoy
riding Further Flight as he had so much character."

Nick Keily with Trust Rule
“I'm coming into my sixth year working for Mr Hills as Head
Lad in Barn 3, which houses 55 horses. It includes some of the stars
like Geminiani, Far Lane and Makhlab.
Trust Rule is my favourite at present because of his consistancy
on the racecourse. He enjoyed life and he’s a pleasure
to have anything to do with.”
